We have been retained by our Client, a multinational organisation to recruit a suitable candidate for the above position in the Agricultural sector.

MAIN MISSION

The main role is to carry out irrigation operations on the farm to ensure good performance of the crops and Managing pest & diseases with the support of Crop Production manager and Scouts Teams using the scarab system.

Summary of Position     

• Responsible for greenhouse maintenance
• Responsible for irrigation
• Responsible for the building, structures, and machine maintenance
• Maintaining complete and exhaustive reporting of the process.

Main tasks:

• Oversee timely routine maintenance of all farm machinery as well as effectively requisition and follow up on machine breakdown repairs in liaison with the maintenance supervisor.
• Ensure that IPM strategies are implemented, spray program is followed based on the scarab scouting system, take note of the preventive spray program as required and report accordingly.
• Schedule and ensure timely greenhouse preparation as per the production cycle calendar and the GSPP Protocol.
• Conducting, compiling & updating phytotoxicity trials data base for the new chemical products being introduced in the farm.
• Tracking crop protection product’s efficacy performance with intention of product analysis & decision making.
• Ensuring good spray coverage by checking on application efficiency & addressing the challenges hindering the process.
• Prescription of chemicals (AI) to be used against pests and diseases in the farm
• Ensure service and maintenance of irrigation systems is done before planting is done i.e. Irrigation Pipes, drip lines, valves, and irrigation equipment’s
• Facilitate collecting and analyzing irrigation data which includes the E .c /ph. of water and recipes, drainages, media analysis and meter reading.
• Ensure proper running of the water treatment plant by routine follow ups of the filtration   process is done to satisfaction to avoid water related diseases to the crops.
• Facilitating drenching using chemicals in liaison with the sprayer’s team and irrigation supervisor as per the schedule.
• Requesting and ensuring fertilizers are mixed according to the recipes formulated and strictly followed
• Ensure timely requisition of farm inputs: – Chemical, Fertilizers, Equipment, Irrigation materials etc.
• Making monthly / daily reports from the department to the managers 
• Carry out performance appraisal exercise for the team
• Responsible of the tidiness of the home farm and storage area in warehouse and containers
• Housekeeping of the work area Participate in Managerial Safety Visits and risk/hazard identification and reporting
  
  

Qualification and Experience Required 

• Degree in any Agricultural related course
• 5 years of experience in similar position.
• Knowledge of greenhouse cultivation.
• Knowledge of seed- management.
• GSPP training for the personnel involved in the project and knowledge of it for the rest of the staff.
• Fluent in both English and Swahili.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office user level.
